Camera Not Working During Identity Verification? How to Fix It

If you're seeing an unable to complete your verification error, your camera won't open to take photos, or you're being re-routed continually to give permissions, the steps below will help you check and update your device settings so you can complete your verification.

Find the section that matches your device and browser below.

iPhone (iOS)

If you're using Chrome/Firefox/Other Browsers

  1. Open the Settings app (the gear icon on your home screen).
  2. Tap Privacy & Security.
  3. Tap Camera.
  4. Find Chrome in the list and make sure the toggle is ON (green).

After updating, close the browser app completely and reopen the request link from your email or text message.

If you're using Safari

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps, then tap Safari.
  3. Scroll down to Settings for Websites and tap Camera.
  4. Set the default to Ask or Allow (Not Deny)

After updating, close Safari completely and reopen the request link from your email or text message.

Android (Chrome)

Android may have multiple different areas to update to enable access to the camera.

1. Clear the site-specific block

If you previously tapped "Block" by accident, Chrome will silently deny camera access for that specific page. Reset it:

  1. While on the Photo Upload screen, tap the icon (padlock or sliders) on the left of the address bar.
  2. Tap Permissions or Site settings.
  3. Tap Reset permissions
  4. Reload the page.

2. Check Chrome's global camera settings

  1. Open Chrome and tap the three dots in the top right.
  2. Go to Settings, then Site settings, then Camera.
  3. Make sure the main toggle is ON.
  4. If the verification page URL appears under Blocked, tap it and switch to Allow.

3. Check Android system settings

If Chrome's in-app menu says camera access is blocked at the system level:

  1. Long-press the Chrome icon on your home screen, then tap the App Info icon (a circled "i").
  2. Tap Permissions, then tap Camera.
  3. Set the permission to Allow while using the app.
