ID Scan Questions:
Why can't I get my ID to scan?
- The background may be preventing the app from clearly recognizing the barcode
- Place your ID on a dark background
- Lighting issues may be preventing the app from "seeing" the barcode. If you have poor lighting issues, you may have too much light or too little light.
- Too much light: If you are outdoors, move out of direct sunlight. If you are indoors and using a lamp or other light source, make sure it is not pointed directly at the ID card.
- Too little light: Move the ID card to a spot where you get more light onto the surface of the card.
- The barcode may be out of focus - your camera's auto focus is not enabled.
- If you are having focus issues, make sure that you have autofocus enabled. Move the camera toward the card and away from the card to trigger your camera's autofocus.
- If the camera will not open, check your settings to allow the browser to use the camera. Please see this article on how to grant permission to your device's camera
- If you see a blank window, copy and paste the link from the email or text message directly into your browser.
- There may be smudges on the ID card or it could be dirty.
- If your card appears to be dirty or damaged, please wipe the card with a clean sponge or towel and try again.
- Your camera's resolution may be too low.
- There may be scratches or physical damage to the ID card.
Facial Scan Questions:
Do I have to remove my glasses/hat/etc for the selfie pic?
While we recommend removing any obstructions, the facial match technology accounts for any damage or obstructions in the images and delivers a match score based on that and other markers on the face.
ID and Document Questions:
What are examples of a government-issued ID?
Driver’s licenses and passports or identity cards are examples of documents that can be submitted during the CertifID Match process.
What if I don’t have a government-issued ID, or my ID was stolen?
CertifID Match requires the authentication of an identity card issued by a government agency against which our data can perform the required checks. Check with your title or closing agent or attorney for alternative methods to validate identity using CertifID’s other existing features such as a Confirm or Collect request.
